New features, improvements and fixes across the control panel, our WordPress plugins, the infrastructure your sites run on and Ellie, newest first.
This is a selection of the changes you're most likely to notice, not everything we ship: much of our work happens behind the scenes. The page isn't updated in real time, so a change can take a few days to show up here after it goes live.

Node.js 20 is no longer offered
Node.js 20 reached end of life in April 2026 and gets no more security fixes, so the app builder no longer offers it. Every app had already moved to a newer version, so no running app is affected.
One more detail
Pick Node.js 26, 24 or 22 in an app's Build settings. 24 is the recommended version.

NewWordPress
Change a plugin or theme to another version
Every plugin and theme now has a Change version option and a version history that shows each change, when it happened and whether it came from you, an automatic update or WordPress itself.
4 more details
Pick an earlier or newer release from wordpress.org and we install it for you.
Go back from a version and automatic updates leave that version alone, so it doesn't come straight back overnight.
A plugin is only swapped when its files match wordpress.org's copy, so a custom plugin that shares a public plugin's folder name is never replaced.
WordPress core has no version picker: every older minor release has known security holes. Snapshots are the way back for core.
Clear the cache and pre-fetch pages from WordPress settings
WordPress > Settings > Cache clears your site's caches and pre-fetches your pages, so the first visitor after a change gets a fast, cached page. You can see how the last run went.
2 more details
The Flush cache button in the WordPress header is now Cache and opens these settings.
Ask Ellie to pre-fetch your pages and she starts it for you.
Fresh caches after updates, restores and staging pushes
When an update, a rollback, a snapshot or backup restore, a search and replace or a staging push changes your site, we clear its object cache and page cache and then pre-fetch your pages.

Hostney Cache 1.3.3 adds the wp hostney-cache commands we use for this.
Hostney Cache 1.3.4: a pre-fetch started after you update from wp-admin now finishes on its own, even on a site where few visits reach WordPress.
Every branch of a repository shares one GitHub webhook
Connecting a second branch of the same repository, or switching branches, no longer breaks the other connection's webhook. A branch change sets up the new branch's hook for you.

NewApps
Joomla and PrestaShop in the Marketplace
Install Joomla 6.2 or PrestaShop 9.2 from the App installer, next to Drupal.
4 more details
Sign in to the app's admin with one click from the panel, for Joomla, PrestaShop and Drupal.
Each app gets server rules written for it, so its friendly URLs and admin pages work without an .htaccess file.
Caching that fits each app: Joomla uses its own page cache, and a PrestaShop page is cached only for visitors without a shop session.
Uninstalling an app removes its own database and database user, and nothing else.

A Tuesday email about vulnerabilities waiting for you
If a plugin, theme or WordPress itself has a critical or high-severity vulnerability that we can't fix because automatic updates are off, you get one email every Tuesday covering all your sites until it's fixed.

Emails when we install WordPress updates
When automatic updates install something on your site, you get one summary a day at 9 AM in your time zone. Security fixes, rollbacks and a site that stopped loading are emailed right away.
3 more details
Each update is listed once, as a security fix or a regular update.
Delegates who can see the site's WordPress pages get their own copy.
It's on by default. Switch it off per site on the Updates page.

ImprovedDomains & DNS
Adding a domain tells you what went wrong
Paste a full URL, a www. address or a subdomain and the Add domain page takes what it can and explains the rest, instead of a bare "Invalid domain name".
3 more details
A subdomain suggests its parent domain.
A parked domain gets a hint on the page, and an email an hour later.
The verification steps are emailed to you, and the pending card says where the TXT record goes, with tips for 40 DNS providers.

Your sign-in code survives a refresh
Refreshing the page or opening a second tab no longer cancels the code we already emailed. Send the code again resends the same code, at most once a minute.

Emails when a website's protection changes
Turning bot protection, datacenter blocking, Check every visitor, invisible checks or lockdown on or off now emails the account owner, and names the delegate who did it.

The WAF page shows a change history for each website.
The Integrity tab compares WordPress core, plugins and themes with the copies published on wordpress.org and flags files that were added, changed or removed.
3 more details
Premium plugins and themes are compared with the copies on other sites we host.
A check runs every night, and you can start one any time.
Hostney Cache is compared with our own published release.

The panel asks before dropping unsaved changes
Leave a page with unsaved edits through the sidebar, a link, Ellie or the browser's Back button, and the panel asks first.

ImprovedFiles & backups
Downloading one file gives you that file
The file manager downloads a single file as it is. Several files or a folder still come as a .tar.gz, and the download says so.

Admin sign-in emails and a clearer Login activity
Login activity shows how each sign-in happened, the account's roles and when a new administrator appears. Two new switches per site email you about administrator sign-ins. Both are off by default.

Delegates who can reach the site get the emails too, each their own copy.

NewApps
Node.js 26, and a warning when your app's Node.js falls behind
The app builder offers Node.js 26 and recommends 24. If a security update comes out for the Node.js version your app runs on, a banner on the app's page tells you.
One more detail
Redeploy the app and it's built on the current release.

Clear warnings for end-of-life PHP
A site on a PHP version that no longer gets security fixes shows a warning that says what that means: known critical vulnerabilities that will never be fixed upstream.

ImprovedFiles & backups
Restore databases next to your live ones
When you restore from a backup, you can save the databases you pick as .sql files in .recovery instead of replacing the live ones.
2 more details
Newest first in the backup lists sorts by time again.
Each restore shows up once in the restore history.
If Hostney Cache is missing from a site, the WordPress pages show a notice with an Install button.
2 more details
Hostney Cache 1.3.1: on sites without Redis or Memcached, transients are stored in the database again, so scheduled WordPress tasks run as they should.
Hostney Cache 1.3.2: a notice when another plugin's object-cache.php holds the drop-in slot, with the choice to keep it or replace it.
Leave the source path empty and turn on Redirect the whole website to send every page of a site to one address. Certificate renewals keep working while it's on.
Heads-up: Redirects saved earlier with an empty source path used to cover the homepage only. They now forward every page.

NewSecurity
Check every visitor
A per-site switch on the WAF page that checks each visitor's browser before the first page loads. Made for sites scraped from a new address on every request. Off by default.
One more detail
Ellie can tell you whether a site needs it, and turn it on for you.
The Nginx page lists the pages that are never cached and why, for example a plugin that sets a cookie on every page.

WooCommerce cart, checkout and account pages are skipped in 88 languages.
Ask Ellie why your site is slow and she reads this list too.

Mail apps sign in with app passwords
Outlook, Apple Mail and phone mail apps now sign in with an app password instead of your mailbox password. Create one from the mailbox's App passwords drawer in the panel.
Heads-up: If a mail app keeps asking for your password, create an app password for it and enter that instead.
Rename, copy, move and new files refuse a name that's already taken. Uploads and archive extraction skip existing files unless you tick Replace files that already exist.

Migration plugin 1.0.7 checks the site before it connects
The WordPress migration plugin flags a multisite network, an unusual folder layout or a site bigger than your disk space up front, before anything is copied.
One more detail
1.0.6 keeps plugin folders named cache, upgrade or backup, which some plugins ship as part of their code.
