Our prices didn’t survive Black Friday. From now until Cyber Monday, every Hostney plan is 30% off for up to three years with the code BLACKFRIDAY30. That is 30% off every year you pay for up front, whether you pick one year, two or three, and the code works until 11:59 p.m. Eastern on Monday, November 30.
No tent on the sidewalk, no 5 a.m. alarm, no fighting a stranger for the last discounted TV. You pick a plan, type the code at checkout, and the discount comes off the whole order. The Black Friday page has the code and a copy button, and the pricing page shows what each plan costs with the code applied.
Below is what the deal is in dollars, what happens when the term ends, how to choose between one and three years, and the full fine print. We also put together a short checklist for reading any host’s Black Friday offer, ours included.
What you pay with the code#
Every plan is billed yearly. With BLACKFRIDAY30, the yearly price drops by 30%, and it stays at that price for every year of the order.
| Plan | Regular price | With BLACKFRIDAY30 | Three years, regular | Three years, with the code | You save over three years |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Startup | $94.70 a year | $66.29 a year | $284.10 | $198.87 | $85.23 |
| Advanced | $179.70 a year | $125.79 a year | $539.10 | $377.37 | $161.73 |
| Pro | $274.70 a year | $192.29 a year | $824.10 | $576.87 | $247.23 |
Startup with the code works out to about $5.52 a month, Advanced to about $10.48 and Pro to about $16.02, but the charge itself is one payment for the term you choose. A two-year order sits in between: Startup comes to $132.58 for both years instead of $189.40.
The plans differ mainly in how many websites they hold and how much room they have:
- Startup – 1 website, 10 GB of storage, 2 mailboxes, 7 days of backup history
- Advanced – 5 websites, 20 GB of storage, 5 mailboxes, 14 days of backup history
- Pro – 10 websites, 40 GB of storage, 10 mailboxes, 30 days of backup history
The full comparison, with databases, visits per month and uptime check intervals, is on the pricing page.
What happens when the term ends#
When the years you paid for run out, the plan renews at its regular price, the one on its card. Buy Startup for three years at $66.29 a year, and year four is charged at the regular Startup price, $94.70 a year today.
We want to be clear about that, because a lot of Black Friday hosting deals work the other way around. The headline price is an introductory rate for the first term, and the renewal is three, four or five times higher. Ours goes from the sale price back to the regular price, which is about 1.43 times what you paid during the sale. There is no separate, higher renewal rate waiting behind it, and nothing to cancel when the sale is over.
One year, two years or three?#
The code takes 30% off every year you pay for up front, so the longer the term, the more the discount is worth. Three years on Pro saves $247.23. One year on Pro saves $82.41.
The other side of it is that you pay for the whole term at checkout. A few things are worth thinking through before you pick:
- Are you sure about the plan? The code applies to the order you place now, and it can be used once per customer. If you expect to add sites over the next year or two, it usually makes more sense to start on the plan you’ll need than to buy the smallest one for three years.
- Have you seen the panel yet? If you haven’t used Hostney before, start a free trial first. It runs for 14 days, needs no credit card, and you can enter the code when you upgrade it (more on that below).
- Is this for a client? Agencies and freelancers often put a client site on a three-year term so the hosting line in the invoice stays the same for the length of the contract. If you bill hosting yearly, one year keeps your own costs in step with what you charge.
If you’re unsure, one year at 30% off is a reasonable middle ground. You get the discount on a full year of real use, and at renewal you know exactly what the regular price is.
How to claim it#
There is no link that fills in the code for you. You type BLACKFRIDAY30 yourself, in one of two places.
Signing up directly#
- Pick a plan on the pricing page.
- Choose one, two or three years.
- On the Review step of the checkout, enter BLACKFRIDAY30. The total updates to show the discount before you pay.
Upgrading a free trial#
- Start a free trial. You get a free starter address, so you can build a site or test a copy of your current one without touching your domain’s DNS.
- Before 11:59 p.m. Eastern on November 30, upgrade the trial to a paid plan and choose one, two or three years.
- Enter BLACKFRIDAY30 on the upgrade page.
Keep an eye on the dates. A trial lasts 14 days, so a trial you start after November 16 will still be running when the sale ends. Upgrade before the deadline rather than waiting for the trial to run out, or the code will no longer apply. The free trial plan article covers what the trial includes and what it doesn’t.
Moving a site you already have#
If the reason you’re shopping is that your current host’s renewal just arrived, moving is part of the plan. WordPress migration is free on every plan. You can do it yourself with our migration plugin or over SSH, and on paid plans we offer a white-glove migration where our team does the move for you, however many sites you’re bringing.
A migration copies your site onto a temporary Hostney address and never writes to your old host, so your site keeps running where it is while you check the copy. You switch DNS when you’re happy with it. The step-by-step version is in how to migrate your WordPress site to Hostney, and if a previous move went badly, why most WordPress migrations fail explains the usual reasons.
What every plan includes#
There are no add-ons to buy back after the discount. Every plan, Startup included, comes with:
- Bot protection at the server, before requests reach WordPress. We explain how it works in how to stop bot traffic at the origin. If you’re thinking about a bigger plan because your site feels slow, it’s worth reading how much of your traffic is bots first. A smaller plan with the bots filtered out is often enough.
- Security – a web application firewall, real-time malware protection and DMARC monitoring.
- Daily backups, a backup manager for restoring files or databases, and the option to copy every backup to your own S3-compatible storage.
- Email on your own domain, with webmail, IMAP and two-step verification. The email hosting announcement walks through setting it up.
- Managed WordPress with staging, WP-CLI and 1-click installs, plus Drupal and apps deployed from Git.
- Ellie, the AI assistant in the control panel. Ask it why a site is slow or what changed, and it looks at your account to answer.
- Uptime monitoring, SSH and terminal access, a file manager and live logs.
Every website also runs in its own container. We explain why we built it that way in how Hostney isolates websites with containers.
The fine print, all of it#
- The code is BLACKFRIDAY30 and takes 30% off.
- It is for new customers. If you already pay for a Hostney plan, the code does not apply.
- It can be used once per customer.
- The 30% comes off every year you pay for up front, from one to three years. After that, the plan renews at its regular price.
- You enter it at checkout, or when you upgrade a free trial to a paid plan.
- It ends at 11:59 p.m. Eastern on Monday, November 30 (8:59 p.m. Pacific).
That’s the whole list. There is no minimum term beyond the year every plan already has, no setup fee, and nothing else you have to buy to get the price.
How to read any host's Black Friday deal#
Most hosting deals this week will look similar in the ad: a big percentage and a low monthly figure. A few questions get you to the real price quickly, wherever you end up buying:
- What does it renew at? Look for the renewal price, not the sale price. If the renewal is three times the sale price or more, the deal is mostly a first-year discount on an expensive plan.
- How long do you have to commit for the advertised price? A monthly figure is often only available on a 36- or 48-month prepay.
- What’s an add-on? Backups, SSL, malware scanning, email and staging are often extras. Add them up before comparing.
- Is migration free, and who does it? A cheap plan that costs you a weekend of moving files isn’t that cheap.
- Can you try it first? A trial without a credit card tells you more about a host than any comparison table.
We wrote a longer guide on how to choose WordPress hosting if you want to go deeper than five questions.
