When you first sign up for Hostney, you will land on the Accounts page. This is where you manage your hosting accounts, start your free trial, or subscribe to a paid plan.

Claiming your free trial#

Every new customer gets one free 14-day trial – no credit card required.

To start your trial:

  1. Go to the Accounts page.
  2. Find the trial plan card and click Start trial.
  3. Follow the 4-step checkout wizard:

Step 1 – Select region Pick a hosting region closest to your audience. Only trial-enabled regions are shown.

Step 2 – Account setup Enter a label for your account. This is a friendly name to help you identify it in your dashboard (for example, “My blog” or “Test site”). The label can be up to 50 characters and may include letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens, underscores, and dots.

Step 3 – Review and activate Review your selected region and account label. Read and accept the terms of service, then click to activate your trial.

Step 4 – Confirmation Your trial account is created and provisioning begins. You can go straight to your new account or return to the dashboard.

Your trial starts immediately. You will receive email reminders before it expires. If you do not upgrade to a paid plan, the trial account is automatically removed after the trial period ends.

Each customer can only claim one free trial.

What is included in the trial#

The trial gives you access to most hosting features so you can evaluate the platform:

  • 1 website with a temporary subdomain for testing
  • 1 GB storage and 1 MySQL database
  • Free SSL certificate
  • WordPress 1-click install and managed WordPress tools
  • SPA deployment via Git
  • Daily backups
  • WAF and real-time malware protection
  • Nginx caching
  • PHP version selector, cron jobs, DNS management, and redirects
  • File manager, SSH terminal, and log viewers

Some features like Memcached are not available during the trial.

Upgrading to a paid plan#

You can upgrade at any time during or after your trial.

  1. Go to the Accounts page.
  2. Choose a paid plan that fits your needs.
  3. Follow the 5-step checkout wizard. The paid checkout includes the same region and account setup steps, plus a payment method selection step where you enter your card details.
  4. Review your plan, billing term, and total, then complete the purchase.

Paid plans offer longer billing terms (1, 2, or 3 years) with discounts for longer commitments.

Adding a payment method#

Payment methods are managed from the Payment methods page under your account settings.

To add a card:

  1. Go to Payment methods.
  2. Click Add payment method.
  3. Enter your card details in the secure form (powered by Stripe).
  4. Click Save.

You can add multiple cards and set one as your default. The default card is used for renewals and future purchases.

To remove a card, click the delete icon on the card you want to remove. You cannot remove your last remaining card if you have an active paid subscription.

Managing your subscription#

Once subscribed, you can view your plan details from the Subscription page:

  • Current plan name, status, and billing term
  • Next renewal date and amount
  • Payment method on file
